Medical Transcription-HIPAA / PIPEDA

EWBS is expending substantial time and effort in order to be responsive and knowledgeable regarding American HIPAA/Canadian PIPEDA regulations and their impact on our customers. EWBS understands that some of the HIPAA regulations have not yet been finalized, and are subject to change. Going forward, our guiding principle is to make every reasonable effort to be knowledgeable and responsive regarding HIPAA regulations, and to act as a business associate in all client activities geared toward achieving HIPAA compliance within the mandated timeframes.

Safeguarding the confidentiality of patient information is at the heart of HIPAA legislation. Every healthcare system must have effective systems in place to uphold these important - morphing and often complex - regulations.

EWBS software empowers healthcare organizations to assess our compliance with all of HIPAA requirements, including privacy, security, transaction sets and code standards, and identifiers. This powerful software also helps an organization manage and document all on-going HIPAA activities.

The following is a partial list of the rules and regulations that we strictly adhere to:

1. Voice files and data transmissions are transferred over a secure internet connection employing the latest encryption technologies

2. EWBS Solutions has full management control of its transcription facility.

3. Medical transcriptionists process dictations and reports on workstations that are connected to our EWBS private network. The workstations have no floppy drives, so they cannot download, transmit or print out any information. Any recordable media is strictly prohibited within the facility.

4. All EWBS Solutions employees are required to sign a confidentiality agreement. A copy of this agreement may be request by the client.

5. Our computer systems have active security, monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with automated and real time network intrusion detection.

6. Emergency Contingency plans are in effect to facilitate continuity of operations.
